This is getting ugly.
Aaron Rodgers threw for 218 yards and four touchdowns to lead the Green Bay Packers to a 31-17 victory over the Arizona Cardinals Sunday afternoon at chilly Lambeau Field. The nimble Rodgers also added 36 yards on the ground.
It was the fifth consecutive loss for Arizona, now 4-5 on the season. What looked liked a promising season not that long ago for the Red Birds has turned into a disaster. The bye week could not come at a better time for them. They need to regroup quickly. Dreams of winning the NFL West are long gone.
John Skelton threw for 306 yards and a touchdown in defeat. LaRod Stephens-Howling chipped in with 51 rushing yards and a touchdown while Larry Fitzgerald added six receptions for 74 yards and a TD for the reeling Cardinals.
The Packers won their fourth in a row and are now 6-3. Green Bay grinded out a season-high 176 yards on the ground.
Frustration continues to mount with the Cardinals. Five consecutive losses would erode any team's confidence.
''That's like a broken record. If you look at our five games that we've lost – which is extremely disappointing – the one thing that's consistent is that we've had opportunities to make plays and we haven't done it,'' Cardinals coach Ken Whisenhunt told the Associated Press. ''Green Bay's a good football team. But today, in my opinion, was as much about what we didn't do as what they did do.''
The Cardinals dropped numerous passes and defensively sacked Rodgers just once (Darnell Dockett and Calais Campbell combined on the sack).
It's time for some soul searching.
