A rough season for the Arizona Cardinals' offensive line just got a lot rougher.
Center Lyle Sendlein suffered a torn left MCL against the St. Louis Rams last Sunday and is out for the rest of the season, it was learned today. Sendlein had started 81 consecutive games for the Red Birds.
This is a huge loss. Sendlein, a six-year veteran from the University of Texas, was known to make all the calls along the line. Rich Ohrnberger, a fourth-year pro, will replace Sendlein but has started only two games in his entire career.
Rookie Scott Wedige has been signed off the Cincinnati Bengals practice squad for added depth along the depleted offensive line.
Did you know?
The Jets, Arizona's opponent this Sunday, lead the all-time series with the Cardinals, 5-2. New York has won five straight. The last time the two squads met was back in 2008 when Brett Favre tossed six touchdown passes to lead Gang Green to a 56-35 triumph at Giants Stadium. The Cardinals committed seven turnovers that day.
