It was nice to see Jason Licht be promoted to vice president of player personnel with the Cardinals. He deserves it. Licht assumes the role Steve Keim vacated when he was named general manager last week.
The 41-year old Licht is in his second stint with the Red Birds. He returned to Arizona last season as director of player personnel after spending three years as director of player personnel for the New England Patriots from 2009-11. He was a Cardinals personnel executive in 2008.
The Fremont, Nebraska native began his NFL career as a scouting assistant with the Miami Dolphins in 1995. He also worked for the Carolina Panthers in 1998 as a scout before joining the Patriots in 1999 as a college scout. He became a national scout for the Pats in 2001 before being promoted to assistant director of player personnel in 2002.
Licht left Foxboro to become the assistant director of player personnel for the Philadelphia Eagles from 2003-2005. He was then promoted to vice president of player personnel with the Eagles from 2006-07 before joining the Cards in 2008.
He'll be an important cog in helping rebuild the Cardinals after their dismal 5-11 campaign in 2012.
