Now following Baltimore's 34-31 victory over San Francisco last night in Super Bowl XLVII, Anquan Boldin can call himself a Super Bowl Champion.
The FSU product concluded his third season with the Ravens with a six reception, 104-yard, one touchdown effort in the Super Bowl to help Baltimore capture its second title in team history.
His 13-yard touchdown catch over the middle from Super Bowl MVP Joe Flacco (22-33, 287 yards, 3 TD) gave the Ravens an early 7-0 first quarter lead and set a positive tone. It's always important to get the early lead and after holding on for dear life thanks to a last minute goal line stand, Boldin and his teammates celebrated their NFL title as confetti rained down on them in the Mercedes-Benz Superdome in New Orleans.
Boldin has been on the other side of course – it still hurts him to recall Arizona's 27-23 loss to the Pittsburgh Steelers in Super Bowl XLIII at Raymond James Stadium in Tampa. He had eight receptions for 84 yards in the contest but it wasn't enough.
"The one thing I took away from my first Super Bowl is you don't want to walk away not holding that trophy," Boldin told nfl.com. "That's something that sits with you, something that for me, it's bugged me since that day. I'm glad I'm able to get back here and try to make right on that."
He certainly did last night. He'll be getting a championship ring to prove it.
