There have been "some rumblings" that free agent quarterback Drew Stanton may join the Arizona Cardinals lineup in the fall, according to National Football Post. The former Indianapolis Colts backup QB has caught the attention of Cardinals' head coach, Bruce Arians, and may be a name to watch this season. While the front office currently doesn't have plans to let current QB Kevin Kolb go, the team's salary cap may prevent them from keeping him if he is not willing to take a hit. However, even if Arians does keep Kolb, many agree that moving to the Cardinals would give Stanton the chance to compete for a starting position under the new regime.
Stanton started a few games for the Detroit Lions back in 2009 and 2010, but has been left mostly to the sidelines since. Last offseason was a dizzying time for the Michigan native: he was first traded to the New York Jets in March, only to be traded over to the Colts once the Jets acquired Tim Tebow. The Michigan State alum has an NFL career total of 1,158 passing yards and 7 touchdowns in 13 games (all with the Detroit Lions). So will a quarterback battle ensue this season? With the many what-if's happening on the Cardinals' current roster, only time will tell.
